GENERATION POR QUÉ? debuts May 1st @ 3:15pm/12:15 PT on HBO Latino and will be available to stream on HBO Max.

GENERATION POR QUE? IS A 30-MINUTE COMEDIC PILOT THAT FOLLOWS THE ADVENTURES OF AN ASPIRING FIRST-GENERATION CUBAN-AMERICAN ACTRESS IN THE BIG CITY. JACQUELINE PEREDA WROTE, DIRECTED AND STARRED IN THIS WONDERFUL PIECE THAT TRULY REMINDS ME OF HOME. THIS PROJECT CELEBRATES AND EXAMINES THE CUBAN-AMERICAN EXPERIENCE WHICH IS FULL OF BLATANT CONTRADICTIONS, WILD EXAGGERATIONS, AND BIZARRE SUPERSTITIONS.

I am beyond excited and still in disbelief that this will actually be airing on hbo. I’m so incredibly proud to be part of a project that celebrates the very specific place that i’m from, while highlighting the very unique experience of being a first-generation member of that community. I can’t thank jacky (or yacky, in cubanese) for having the courage to address some of the issues firstgen cubans/children of immigrants face, and for casting me. Thank you to hbo for believing in this project and carving out a space for it. i can only hope that space continues to grow!
